About being a twin:
Our high school class had around seven sets of twins. Some identical, some fraternal, some enjoying each other, and of course, some not.
We are definitely connected. We enjoy each other! When one is feeling low, the other does everything in her book of tricks to make the other laugh. Even if it is wearing clip-on bangs or a fake messy bun teetering on top on her head!
It’s true that twins do finish sentences and thoughts. We have mirrored issues like cavities and injuries. Though we don’t think we look exactly alike, we are lookalikes! It just depends on how you see things. Once, a dentist drilled on the wrong twin. She was a mighty little girl, and let that dentist know! Since that careless dentist mixed us up, I guess we can look very much alike.
A special link but also different.
One twin has always been shy and quiet. That one studied English in college. The other twin is much more outgoing, and she studied history. Yes, same college, and yes, college roommates all four years!
This unique connectivity makes for a perfect writing companion. We have different views and outlooks, like different musicians, foods, and flowers. But differences all add up and contribute to each book’s main character’s goals, motivations, and conflicts. Readers get in double the trouble while finding a happily ever after! We have have been reading romance, rom coms, mystery, biographies, and adventure stories for decades (please don’t ask how many), after all computers were giant machines in college. Yes! We are that old, remember correction tape? That is us in college pulling all nighters.
We talk every single day, covering the family kids, grandchildren, fur babies and updates. In the wild of our backyards we feed (hundreds of hummingbirds, quails, wild turkeys, and finches). More on the birds later. Most of all we love to plot and talk over what our characters are doing, going to do, and what trouble they are going to get out of. This is a very fun part of our day. If you miss the FaceTime call, boy do you get in trouble.
We’ll let you guess who is who.
